As the founder & managing partner of Hewlett Law Firm, P.C., based in Atlanta, Georgia, Eric Hewlett focuses his legal practice on civil litigation, business disputes, white collar criminal defense and personal injury matters. Representing both plaintiffs and defendants, he handles a broad range of complex legal challenges, including general personal injury, medical malpractice and product liability claims. Mr. Hewlett earned his bachelor’s degree from Alabama A&M University in 2016 before receiving his Juris Doctor from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2019. His education provided a strong foundation for his legal career and prepared him to advocate for clients across multiple areas of civil and criminal law.
Admitted to practice in Illinois, Indiana and Georgia, Mr. Hewlett is also authorized to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois; the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana; and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. These admissions allow him to represent clients in both state and federal matters across multiple jurisdictions.
Deeply committed to his profession, Mr. Hewlett maintains active memberships in several legal organizations, including the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the Black Men Lawyers Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia.

- Represented a barbershop in Smyrna, GA, in a property damage case involving a large trash collection service, Waste Management. Waste Management initially disputed liability. Three months later, Waste Management settled the case for $60,000.00., 2026
- Procurement Integrity Act Investigation*, Assisted in defending high ranking air force official against claims related to violations of the Procurement Integrity Act.
- False Claims Act Litigation*, Assisted in defending a large drug manufacturer in a qui tam action related to inflated AWPs.
- FINRA Inquiry*, Defended a financial services firm against an investigation by FINRA regarding the reporting of political contributions and outside business activities under MSRB and FINRA rules.
- Motorcycle Accident*, Recovered a multi-million-dollar settlement for family of a motorcyclist killed in a trucking accident.
- Wrongful Death Litigation*, Defended the National Athletic Association in various lawsuits regarding concussion protocols and standards for college athletes.
- Construction Dispute*, Secured a high six-figure settlement for a general contractor in a dispute regarding paving and resurfacing roads for the City of Stonecrest.
- Breach of Contract Dispute*, Successfully defended a marijuana dispensary in a breach of contract dispute regarding violations of a non-compete clause and unlawful use of intellectual property and trade secrets.
- Construction Dispute*, Defended a large oil and gas company in a breach of contract suit for the construction of its refinery and obtained summary judgment on all claims.
- Represented a large oil refinery in the state of Indiana regarding a personal liability notice statute. The subcontractor alleged that my client (the owner) was personally liable for the payment to the subcontractors due to the general contractor failing to pay the subcontractors. We filed a Rule 56 motion that was granted by the Court., 2022
- Represented an investment banking firm who was being investigated by FINRA for failing to report financial contributions made to political campaigns throughout the state of Alabama and failing to report outside business activities. Despite FINRA finding my client to be liable, FINRA did not impose a significant fine on my client and did not issue any suspensions., 2022
- Represented a general contractor who completed roadwork for the City of Stonecrest, GA. The City of Stonecrest refused to pay my client the remaining amount due on the contract simply because they alleged my client did not follow proper procedures for a change order. After months of litigation, we settled for high six-figures., 2025
- Represented an Indiana utility in an eminent domain lawsuit. The Defendant was a Trust and disputed the value of the trees on the portion of its property that was subject to condemnation. Representatives of the Trust demanded $1,000,000.00. After a 4-hour mediation, we settled for $47,000.00., 2025
