Greg Willis

Greg was awarded the Georgia DUI Lawyer of the Year Award for 2018-2019 because of the outstanding results he earns for his clients.  For over 23 years, Greg has relentlessly defended people accused of DUI and has successfully argued to expand the state and federal constitutional rights of his clients.  On February 18, 2019, he won a landmark case (Elliott v. State, 305 Ga. 179 (2019)) when the Supreme Court of Georgia decided for the first time that the DUI statutes related to breath testing and refusals were unconstitutional. The Court held that the refusal of the breath test was an exercise of a constitutional right that could not be used against his client (or any DUI suspect) at trial.  This case also resulted in the suppression of the breath test results in most cases that were made prior to April 28, 2019, when the legislature amended the DUI statutes in response to the Elliott case. The Elliott case results have been extended to field sobriety tests and urine tests in 2022.  The national DUI Defense Lawyers Association recognized Greg with its highest honor, the BadAss Award, for his extraordinary determination and commitment to defend his clients. Greg is currently arguing many other constitutional challenges that will affect most DUI cases pending at this time. Judges, lawyers, friends, police officers, and former clients refer their friends and family to Greg because of their trust in him.  He has resolved over 93% of his clients' DUI cases over the last ten years without a DUI conviction.  Because of his unmatched record of success, Greg is regularly asked to speak at both national and state DUI training conferences for DUI lawyers.
