Recognized as a “Top 100” Super Lawyer, Jeff Shiver is widely regarded as one of Georgia’s leading trial attorneys in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. He has been named to Georgia Trend’s “Legal Elite” multiple times and was selected by The Daily Report as one of 13 lawyers under 40 “On the Rise.” He has also been recognized as a “Top 40 Under 40” by The National Trial Lawyers and as a Top 40 Under 40 Litigation Lawyer in Georgia by The American Society of Legal Advocates.
In 2023, Jeff served as lead trial counsel in the largest wrongful death verdict in Georgia that year, securing a $140,000,000 verdict in DeKalb County State Court. The case was defended by several of Atlanta’s largest defense firms. Following the verdict, the case drew national attention and prompted significant safety changes and increased code enforcement at the apartment complex where George Hughes was killed, as well as at similar properties across the Atlanta area.
Jeff’s practice is devoted exclusively to serious personal injury and wrongful death cases. From the outset of his career, he focused on becoming a trial lawyer for injured individuals and families. Before law school, he apprenticed with respected trial attorneys, assisting in trial preparation and learning plaintiff-side litigation from the ground up. During law school, he prosecuted criminal cases in Newton and Jackson Counties, gaining early courtroom experience.
After graduating, Jeff began his career at one of Atlanta’s premier insurance defense firms, representing doctors, hospitals, nursing homes, and automotive manufacturers. There, he tried cases to verdict and gained firsthand insight into how insurance companies evaluate and defend high-exposure claims. That experience now informs his strategy when litigating against them.
In 2007, he was recruited to join a plaintiff-focused firm, where he tried or resolved numerous seven-figure cases throughout Georgia. He later co-founded Shiver Hamilton Campbell, a trial firm known for handling complex, high-stakes cases that are often referred by other attorneys.
Jeff has been named a Super Lawyer by Atlanta Magazine and Super Lawyers for sixteen consecutive years (2007–2024). From 2021 through 2024, he was selected as one of Georgia’s “Top 100 Super Lawyers.” Only 2.5% of Georgia attorneys are selected as Super Lawyers each year.
His practice includes automobile and trucking collisions, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, product liability, and professional negligence. He has tried numerous cases to verdict and has represented clients before the Supreme Court of Georgia, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and in federal courts across the state.
Outside the courtroom, Jeff is active in his community. He volunteers with Blue Skies Ministries and Hope Heals, serves as an Elder at Saint Simons Island Presbyterian Church, is a former board member of the Golden Isles Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and serves on the Board of Trustees at Frederica Academy.
