Attorney Julie McGhee Howard is a co-founder and managing partner of NowackHoward in Atlanta, Georgia. Ms. Howard practices community association law and represents condominium and homeowner associations in the Atlanta region and throughout Georgia.

Ms. Howard has extensive experience advising community associations in real estate matters and general counsel issues, including association meetings and parliamentary guidance, assessment collection, covenant and rule enforcement, developer transition and disputes, Fair Housing Act claims, lien foreclosure, owner bankruptcy, owner dispute resolution, property tax appeals, and other general litigation.

Ms. Howard graduated from Furman University, earned her law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law and is licensed as an instructor for the Georgia Real Estate Commission. She gained valuable legal experience by clerking for a judge and practicing as a shareholder and managing partner at another private Georgia-based firm. She has been admitted to practice law in Georgia since 1993.

Using her legal experience and skills to the fullest, Ms. Howard has made significant contributions to the legal profession. She has assisted in the drafting of amendments to the Georgia Property Owners’ Association Act and the Georgia Condominium Act since 2007 and has testified many times before the Georgia House of Representatives and Georgia State Senate committees on proposed community association laws.

Ms. Howard is a Past President and member of the Board of Trustees of the national Community Associations Institute. She is also a Past President and board member, in addition to many other roles, of the Community Associations Institute of Georgia.  Ms. Howard is a fellow in the College of Community Association Lawyers and served on the College's Board of Governors from 2016 through 2019.  She served as the College's 2018 President and 2019 Immediate Past President and regularly presents at the College's national law seminar.  Ms. Howard is an active member of the Sandy Springs Bar Association, serving as its 2023 and 2024 President, and she is a member of the Lawyers Club of Atlanta.
