Providing representation to clients throughout the area, she handles a variety of cases, including complex divorces, child custody disputes, spousal support, property division, prenuptial agreements, order modifications and related matters. In addition to resolving these issues through litigation and negotiations, Ms. Burney also has extensive collaborative law experience.

A native of Michigan, Ms. Burney pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan and received a Bachelor of Arts in 2002. She then went on to attend Loyola University Chicago School of Law and was awarded her Juris Doctor in 2005. After graduation, she moved to Atlanta and was an associate with another area family law firm before joining Kessler & Solomiany LLC. Admitted to practice in Georgia, Ms. Burney is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit. Her dedication to her practice area is reflected in her active participation in the family law sections of the Atlanta Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia and the Cobb County Bar Association.

Ms. Burney is a member at large of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia.  She is the current Secretary of the Family Law Section of the Cobb County Bar Association.  Since 2012, Ms. Burney has served as the editor of the Cobb Family Law Quarterly, the official publication of the Family Law Section of the Cobb County Bar Association. She has taught courses in civil litigation at Kennesaw State University, and she is frequently asked to deliver presentations on family law topics to groups of fellow professionals. Ms. Burney is also a barrister in The Charles Longstreet Weltner Family Law American Inn of Court.
