Within a relatively short period of time, Kristen E. Files has emerged as a prominent leader within her legal community, garnering the adulation of her peers for her judicious and expeditious advocacy, with an emphasis on taking care of her clients throughout their legal ordeal. A partner and co-founder of Files Hayle LLC in Atlanta, Georgia, she serves residents across the state in pressing family law matters, such as divorce, child custody and support and alimony, as well as complex high-asset and high-conflict cases.
Ms. Files is a 2005 B.A. degree graduate in dance and sociology from Emory University, where she was part of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the Social Entrepreneurs Club – along with co-founding the nonprofit organization Plays and Plies. She then went on to enroll in Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School, and her academic prowess and penchant for practical thinking led her to participate in moot court and the National Appellate Advocacy Competition.
Moreover, Ms. Files was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for achieving the highest grade in legal research and writing and criminal law, and she was a member of the National Black Law Students Association, the Atlanta Bar Association (ABA) and the Atlanta Council of Younger Lawyers (student liaison). She received her Juris Doctor in 2010 and, in the same year, her license to practice in Georgia. She later became admitted to practice before the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Georgia and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Outside her law practice, Ms. Files maintains close affiliations with a wide variety of prominent legal organizations, including the Family Law sections of the ABA and the American Bar Association, as well as the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys and the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers. She is committed to sharing the wealth of knowledge she has accumulated throughout her illustrious career and does so as a legal writing instructor at her law school alma mater. For her many considerable contributions, she is rated a perfect “10.0” on Avvo and hosts a plethora of positive client testimonials, culminating in her receiving the site’s Client’s Choice Award.
