Leon S. Jones is the founding partner of Jones & Walden, LLC, in Atlanta, Georgia, where he concentrates on bankruptcy proceedings, creditor rights enforcement and business litigation. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he has represented debtors, creditors and corporate clients in complex financial disputes. His practice encompasses contested Chapter 11 reorganizations, fraudulent-transfer actions and post-judgment collection strategies, all tailored to meet the unique objectives of each client.
Mr. Jones began his legal journey at prominent Georgia law firms. In those settings, he frequently served as lead counsel in commercial trials and evidentiary hearings, honing his courtroom advocacy. He also managed extensive collection programs, employing garnishments, writs of execution and receiverships to secure judgments and recover assets on behalf of his clients. Maintaining a “Very Good” rating on Avvo, he has also been AV Preeminent peer-review rated* through Martindale-Hubbell.
Maintaining an active litigation practice in both state and federal venues throughout Georgia, Mr. Jones has appeared before the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Georgia. With a deep understanding of procedural and substantive issues, he regularly delivers presentations to trade associations, bar groups and corporate audiences on topics such as individual Chapter 11 cases and developments in fraudulent transfer law.
Mr. Jones earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1988. During law school, he served as executive chairman of the moot court board, competed on the Grey’s Inn Moot Court and Jessup teams and contributed to the Georgia Journal of International & Comparative Law as an editorial board member. His academic achievements were recognized with membership in the Order of Barristers and the Joseph Henry Lumpkin American Inn of Court. He previously obtained a Bachelor of Arts in economics and political science, graduating summa cum laude from the University of Georgia in 1985.
A member of the State Bar of Georgia, Mr. Jones remains committed to professional development and mentorship. He holds membership in the Order of Barristers and the Joseph Henry Lumpkin American Inn of Court, and he frequently participates in continuing-education programs to stay current with evolving trends in insolvency and commercial litigation.
