Matthew F. Totten

A highly regarded civil trial attorney, Matthew F. Totten is an associate at The Gilroy Firm. Based in Alpharetta, Georgia, he provides representation to his individual and business clients in the greater Atlanta metropolitan area and across the state. Admitted to practice before all Georgia state courts, Mr. Totten is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Georgia.

The primary focus of Mr. Totten's practice is real estate litigation, in part centered on title disputes as well as lien priorities. He has also handled evictions and other landlord-tenant matters, and he has represented homeowners associations in cases involving bylaw and CCR violations. Mr. Totten has also worked on foreclosure litigation on behalf of lenders and mortgage service companies, and his experience includes the representation of creditors in consumer and business bankruptcy proceedings.

A native of Georgia, Mr. Totten attended the C. Herman and Mary Virginia Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia, and he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration cum laude in 2007. After working as a financial analyst for two different companies, he then enrolled at the University of South Carolina School of Law. While he was there, Mr. Totten was the managing editor of the South Carolina Journal of International Law and Business and served two summer clerkships before being awarded his Juris Doctor in 2013. Prior to joining The Gilroy Firm in January 2018, Mr. Totten was an associate with an area real estate and litigation law firm. He volunteers his services to the Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi, a large business fraternity.
