With over 35 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on trial, appellate, class actions, and business litigation matters, Michael B. Terry is a partner at Bondurant Mixson & Elmore LLP in Atlanta, Georgia, and strives to provide quality representation to his clients, who range from individual clients and independent entrepreneurs to corporate entities and state organizations.
Graduating magna cum laude with his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1982 from the University of Georgia, Mr. Terry later attended the University of Georgia School of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctor magna cum laude in 1987. Licensed to practice in Atlanta the same year, he also later received admission to practice before:

Always working every angle to maximize his clients’ chances of success, Mr. Terry takes no shortcuts in the pursuit of justice. His strong work ethic speaks volumes when he prepares for a case, with many hours poured into fine-tuning his argument and combing through every piece of relevant information. He has the honor of successfully representing plaintiffs as co-counsel in a case that resulted in a $1.7 billion verdict – the largest in the history of the state of Georgia, with an added emphasis on his cross-examination skills that was considered the turning point in the case.
Mr. Terry has received a plethora of awards and recognitions for his work. Chambers & Partners USA named him a Leading Business Lawyer since 2008, American Lawyer Media bestowed him with the Georgia Lawyer of the Year Award, and he was awarded the Case of the Year award by the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Moreover, he was recognized as a Fellow by the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers and was named Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers on numerous occasions for his work in business law and appellate.
With a longstanding reputation of getting results for his clients, Mr. Terry has been a pillar of leadership in the Georgia legal community, having served as president of the Atlanta Bar Association and the Atlanta Bar Foundation. He was also selected by the Council of State Court Judges of Georgia to represent them in the Georgia Supreme Court to successfully challenge measures taken by the Georgia Judicial Qualifications Commission. Furthermore, the former organization presented him with the Guardian of Justice Award in 2017.
Mr. Terry holds important positions in prominent legal organizations, including on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Bar Association and in the House of Delegates of the American Bar Association.
