Michael Murphy

A partner at Farnsworth & Murphy LLC, Michael Murphy divides his practice between criminal defense matters and personal injury and wrongful death litigation. From the firm's office in Atlanta, Georgia, he provides representation to clients throughout the greater metropolitan area. Admitted to practice before all Georgia state courts since 2011, Mr. Murphy is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

In his criminal defense practice, Mr. Murphy provides effective advocacy for people who have been charged by the state with having committed misdemeanor or felony offenses. The types of cases, which he has worked on have included the possession of heroin, cocaine and other illegal drugs, driving under the influence of alcohol, traffic violations, domestic violence, homicide, robbery, sex crimes, and assault and battery. Mr. Murphy has been able to obtain positive results for his clients, including dismissals, acquittals and the negotiation of favorable plea agreements with the prosecution.

Mr. Murphy also represents clients who have incurred economic and noneconomic losses due to the negligence or recklessness of other people or entities. His experience in this regard has included cases arising out of truck and other motor vehicle crashes, workplace accidents and premises liability. Mr. Murphy has secured significant compensation on behalf of his clients, through both jury awards and settlements, which he has negotiated out of court with defendants and their insurance companies. Mr. Murphy is a member of several legal organizations, including the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Cobb County Bar Association. He received his Juris Doctor from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School in 2011.
