Nancy E. Rafuse

Nancy E. Rafuse is a partner at the Atlanta, Georgia, office of the law firm of Sanford Heisler Sharp, LLP, with branches in the District of Columbia, New York, California, Tennessee and Maryland. The head of the firm’s litigation group, she focuses on cases related to:

• Employment litigation
• Discrimination in the workplace
• Harassment and employment retaliation
• Executive and C-suite representation
• Employment contracts
• Wage and hour law
• Wrongful termination

 Licensed to practice in the state of Georgia, Ms. Rafuse is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the Supreme Court of Georgia, the Court of Appeals of Georgia and the superior courts of Georgia.

Ms. Rafuse belongs to several organizations, including the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia , to name a few. She has held key leadership roles at  Zoo Atlanta, Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta, GEEARS and the Urban League of Greater Atlanta. She teaches employment discrimination and wage and hour litigation as a professor at the University of Georgia School of Law and serves as a counselor-in-residence.

Upon completing her undergraduate studies in finance cum laude at the University of Georgia, Ms. Rafuse graduated with her law degree magna cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law. At law school, she served on the editorial and managing boards of the Georgia Law Review and was part of the Order of the Coif honor society. She interned with Honorable United States District Judge B. Avant Edenfield of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia.

Ms. Rafuse has received many accolades for her 30 years of service to the legal society. She is a recipient of the State Bar of Georgia’s Commitment to Equality award,  theLadybug for Girls Foundation’s Community Partner Award and Dress for Success’ Champions for Success Award. She is a band 1 Chambers lawyer and has been listed in the Benchmark Litigation’s Top 250 Women in Litigation, the National Law Journal’s 40 Under 40, the Lawdragon 500 New Stars and the Who’s Who Legal: The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers.
