Richard Kopelman

Attorney Richard Kopelman is a founding partner of Kopelman Sitton Law Group, LLC, in Atlanta, Georgia. Nationally recognized as a preeminent trial lawyer, Mr. Kopelman focuses his practice primarily on catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death claims for clients throughout Georgia. He also has considerable experience assisting homeowners and businesses with insurance coverage issues regarding sewage back-ups, storm water damage and adverse environmental impacts. Mr. Kopelman also has been involved in mass tort and multi-district litigation pharmaceutical and medical device litigation cases across the country.

Through his personal injury practice, Mr. Kopelman has secured tens of millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts for his plaintiff clients, earning his membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. A former insurance defense attorney, he understands the tactics insurance companies use to reduce or deny claims to those in need, which enables him to devise the most effective strategies possible to help them recover the full amount of compensation and benefits they deserve.

A 1984 graduate of Washington and Lee University, Mr. Kopelman obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1987, graduating Order of the Barristers. While in law school, he participated in several National Moot Court Competitions, where his team placed first in the Southeast Region, and Mr. Kopelman earned Best Oral Advocate.

He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the Atlanta and DeKalb County Bar Associations, the American Bar Association and the American Association for Justice, among his other professional affiliations. He has also maintained heavy involvement with NFL Concussion Litigation, where he has represented the families of several former NFL players who died from or suffered devastating effects of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy.
