In 2001, Ms. Stottlemyer graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor's degree. She then went on to receive her law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2004. While attending law school, Ms. Stottlemyer participated in the Jean-Pictet international moot court competition and served as an editor of the Journal of International Law. Upon her graduation from law school, Ms. Stottlemyer was granted a fellowship at The Carter Center for International Peace.

In recognition of the high regard in which she is held by her Clients, Ms. Stottlemyer was awarded a Client's Choice Award from in 2013, and Martindale-Hubbell has given her its AV-Preeminent* rating based on her recognition from her peers in the legal community.
