When she was in college, she suffered serious burns in a house fire, and that experience prompted her to serve with AmeriCorps, helping young burn injury victims. She also worked at the Legal Aid of Western Missouri and Atlanta Legal Aid Society, where she served the needs of low-income individuals.

    Today, she still volunteers her time and services with the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation and other organizations, and her traumatic experience helps her better connect with her injury clients to deliver the highest level of compassionate counsel during their times of dire need.

    A 2000 graduate of Emory University, Ms. Cannella received her Master of Public Policy from the Georgetown Public Policy Institute in 2004. She then attended the University of Georgia School of Law, where she obtained her Juris Doctor magna cum laude in 2007. 

    While in law school, she served as executive notes editor of the Georgia Law Review, and she received several scholarships and honors for her excellent academic achievements. She also won Best Team, Best Brief and Best Oralist at the 2006 Intrastate Moot Court Competition, and she served on the moot court board. She graduated Order of the Coif and Order of the Barristers.

    Ms. Cannella is an active member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta Bar Association, and she as served on the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association's Membership Committee and Amicus Committee, and she is a member of the organization's LEAD Class of 2013. She is also a Barrister with the Lumpkin Inn of Court, and she is chairperson of the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers' Mentoring Committee as well as executive board member of the American Constitution Society.
