Thomas Church

Within a relatively short period of time, Tom Church has made a name for himself in the national legal community as an aggressive advocate for his clients, helping them overcome complex legal challenges in high stake felony cases in Georgia and at the federal level. His firm, the Church Law Firm, LLC, is based in Atlanta, Georgia but handles federal criminal cases across the country, from the Southern District of California to the Southern District of New York. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tom also filed dozens of motions for “compassionate release” and sentence reductions, leading to the release of many elderly inmates, medically vulnerable inmates, and inmates who had received excessively harsh sentences.

At the federal and state court level, Tom has obtained remarkable outcomes in cases involving white collar crimes, sex offenses, drug trafficking, fraud, bribery, firearms, civil asset forfeiture, and more. Tom has also built a strong practice based on representing individuals and companies that have been wrongfully charged with selling illegal marijuana and other drugs based on their sale of legal hemp products under state and federal law. As part of that work, Tom has obtained injunctions against overreaching district attorneys and sheriffs, and he has helped clients get hundred of thousands of dollars and other wrongfully seized property back from law enforcement.

Tom obtained his undergraduate degree from Emory University in 2012. He went on to graduate from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he excelled on the Moot Court Team and the Mock Trial Team and graduated with honors. Tom is licensed to practice in federal and state court in Georgia. He has been recognized as “One to Watch” by Best Lawyers, Top 40 Under 40, and a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers. He has been featured in the news countless times for his legal analysis and as an advocate in several of his own high-profile cases.
