At The McPhillip Firm, in Atlanta, attorney W. Sean McPhillip has built a reputation as a trial-ready advocate for Georgia clients facing the aftermath of catastrophic injuries. His practice centers on cases involving traumatic brain injuries, trucking and 18-wheeler collisions, serious auto injuries, wrongful death, dog bites and motorcycle accidents. While managing each case, he combines thorough investigation, persuasive courtroom storytelling and unyielding negotiation to pursue outcomes that can change clients’ lives.
Mr. McPhillip’s path to personal injury law was anything but conventional. A native New Yorker, he earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from New York University before relocating to Atlanta to build a career in information technology. That entrepreneurial drive led him to co-found and operate a successful translation company, proof of a mind equally at home with logic and language.
Yet a long-held ambition eventually pulled him toward the courtroom. Mr. McPhillip enrolled in law school, where he distinguished himself as a member of the Georgia State University Law Review’s editorial board, earned several CALI Excellence for the Future Awards for academic excellence and received the Excellence in Advocacy Award. Following graduation, he joined an AmLaw 100 firm, where he practiced as a registered patent attorney handling areas such as patents, trademarks and copyrights – a foundation that sharpened his precision and analytical rigor.
In 2020, Mr. McPhillip channeled that experience into a new mission when he founded The McPhillip Firm to serve his community directly. He broadened his focus to personal injury and criminal defense and, within four years, transformed the firm into a multimillion-dollar practice that has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of injured clients.
Recognized in 2017 on The National Black Lawyers: Top 40 Under 40 list, Mr. McPhillip is a registered attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and holds memberships with the Gate City Bar Association, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and the National Bar Association.
