Scott T. Poole

One of Georgia’s leading criminal defense attorneys, Scott T. Poole is a partner at Grisham, Poole & Carlile, P.C. His firm is headquartered in Canton, and he provides aggressive advocacy on behalf of clients in Cherokee, Pickens, Bartow, and Cobb counties and other parts of the greater Atlanta metropolitan area. Mr. Poole majored in political science and government at Berry College and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1994. He then went on to attend Georgia State University College of Law, graduating with his Juris Doctor in 1997.

After he graduated from law school, Mr. Poole joined the Cherokee County District Attorney’s office where he spent more than 11 years prosecuting misdemeanors and felonies, including drug charges and RICO violations. He then moved to the Pickens County District Attorney’s Office where, as a senior assistant district attorney, he supervised a large staff and personally handled serious charges, including homicide, drug trafficking and sex crimes.

Mr. Poole now uses that prosecutorial experience to anticipate the types of tactics that he can expect to face in his current representation of people who have been accused by the state of having committed misdemeanor and felony offenses. The cases that he has handled since being in private practice have included white collar crimes, driving under the influence of alcohol, theft, burglary, sexual assault and manslaughter. Mr. Poole has been able to obtain numerous dismissals and jury acquittals, and he also has negotiated many favorable plea bargain agreements with the prosecution that have resulted in reduced penalties. Highly regarded by his colleagues, his successful track record has earned him a "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo and other honors. Admitted to practice in Georgia since 1997, he is a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and other professional groups.
