Attorney Ramsey Prather is a partner with Butler Prather LLP law firm, which has law offices in Atlanta, Savannah and Columbus, Georgia. Over the course of his legal career, Mr. Prather has handled a variety of highly complex cases in Georgia and other states. Among his most notable successes, he and his partner Jim Butler obtained the largest jury verdict in Georgia history—a $2.5 billion verdict in February 2025 on behalf of two Georgians who were killed when a defective roof crushed down on them in a rollover wreck. He was also part of the trial team that secured a landmark verdict of $280 million in a wrongful death case arising from a trucking accident, and he has secured many other recoveries for clients in excess of a million dollars.
A leader in his field, Mr. Prather has written extensively and conducted lectures and continuing legal education seminars on a variety of legal topics. He has served as co-chair of the False Claims Act Summit. He is also an active member of the State Bar of Georgia as well as the organization's Business Court. He is also an active member of Taxpayers Against Fraud, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and other local, state and national legal organizations.
A 2005 magna cum laude graduate of New York University, Mr. Prather obtained his Juris Doctor magna cum laude from Tulane Law School in 2010, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Tulane Law Review. He graduated Order of the Coif.
