A partner at Bovis, Kyle, Burch & Medlin, LLC, Charles M. Medlin focuses his practice primarily on family law matters and other types of civil litigation. He is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and he provides representation to clients throughout the state. Mr. Medlin has been admitted to practice in Georgia since 1990, and he is additionally admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Georgia.

Mr. Medlin went to Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, as an undergraduate, and he was the captain of the school’s debate team before receiving a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude in 1982. He then subsequently enrolled at the University of North Carolina School of Law, and he was an assistant teacher of contracts law under a professor before being awarded his Juris Doctor in 1990. Mr. Medlin joined his current firm after he graduated, and he was made a partner on Jan. 1, 1997.

Mr. Medlin is the firm’s senior family law partner, and his caseload is largely made up of divorce and its related legal issues of property division, alimony, child custody and visitation, and child support. He has experience in mediation and collaborative law, and he is thus often able to help his divorcing clients avoid protracted courtroom battles through the use of those methods of alternative dispute resolution, but his extensive trial background enables him to be a forceful courtroom advocate on their behalf when litigation proves to be necessary.

Mr. Medlin’s professional affiliations include the Family Law Section of the Atlanta Bar Association. Held in high regard by his colleagues, he has received an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and a 10.0 “Superb” peer review rating through Avvo.

*AV®, AV Preeminent®, Martindale-Hubbell Distinguished and Martindale-Hubbell Notable are certification marks used under license in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies.
