A partner at the Decatur, Georgia, law firm of Hall Hirsh Hughes, LLC, David R. Hughes offers general civil litigation services to clients across the state. Focusing his practice on business and real estate litigation, as well as catastrophic personal injury claims, Mr. Hughes has also handled cases on behalf of clients throughout the Eastern United States.
Before receiving a Juris Doctor from the Emory University School of Law in 1990, Mr. Hughes completed his undergraduate education at the same institution, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Emory University in 1982. Upon graduating from law school, he was named to the Emory University School of Law chapter of The Order of the Barristers. In 1986, Mr. Hughes graduated with a Master of Divinity from Harvard University.
Having more than 20 years of experience, Mr. Hughes has assisted clients with a range of complex matters, including those involving the following: railroad injuries, wrongful death, medical malpractice, securities fraud claims and violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act, business and commercial litigation, and catastrophic personal injury claims. He has received the highest possible rating of AV Preeminent* from Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Hughes has previously served as aide for a chief deputy majority whip in the U.S. House of Representatives and as legal aide for the Georgia State Senate’s Committee on Special Judiciary.
Staying active in the community is a priority for Mr. Hughes. In addition to involvement in various civic and community affairs, he has served in varying capacities for several professional organizations, including the Atlanta Bar Association, the DeKalb Bar Association, the DeKalb Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, and the Decatur Rotary Club.
