Ryan R. Shafer

Focusing his practice exclusively on divorce and other family law matters, Ryan R. Shafer is an associate at Meriwether & Tharp, LLC. Working out of the firm's office in Johns Creek, Georgia, he furnishes advice and counsel to residents of Fulton County and other parts of the greater Atlanta metropolitan area. Admitted to practice in Georgia since 2013, Mr. Shafer is also admitted to practice before all New Jersey state courts.

Many of Mr. Shafer's clients are people whose marriages have irretrievably broken down. He provides aggressive courtroom advocacy on their behalf when they have been unable to come to an accord on their own or through negotiations on such matters as property division, alimony, child support, and child custody and litigation has become necessary. For those clients whose marriages have already been dissolved, he helps them to obtain modifications to or the enforcement of existing support and parenting court orders. Mr. Shafer's other family law experiences have included contempt proceedings and the establishment of paternity.

Majoring in mathematics, Mr. Shafer attended La Salle University in Philadelphia as an undergraduate and received a bachelor's degree in 2008. Subsequently deciding to pursue a legal education, he then enrolled at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. Prior to being awarded his Juris Doctor in 2013, Mr. Shafer clerked for a judge on the Supreme Court of New Jersey and was a research assistant to a professor at his law school. Before joining Meriwether & Tharp, LLC, in February 2015, he was an associate at a family law firm in Clayton County, Georgia. Mr. Shafer's professional memberships include the Gwinnett County Bar Association and the Family Law Section of the Atlanta Bar Association.
