Joel M. Grist Jr. is the owner of Grist Law Firm in Macon, Georgia. He represents individuals and families in serious truck crash, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death cases throughout Georgia. He is Board Certified in Truck Accident Law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, reflecting his focused experience in cases involving commercial motor vehicles, trucking safety rules, and the severe harm caused by unsafe trucking practices.
As a trial lawyer, Mr. Grist helps people who have been seriously injured, and families who have lost loved ones, because of the carelessness of another person, a commercial motor carrier, a dangerous condition, or a defective product. He prepares each personal injury case as if it will be tried before a jury, working from the outset to investigate the facts, preserve evidence, identify responsible parties, and present the full human impact of an injury or death.
Mr. Grist’s practice is built around personal attention and careful preparation. His firm’s philosophy is simple: “We handle the most important case in the world — yours.” While many cases are resolved through settlement, Mr. Grist believes clients are best served when their cases are built with trial in mind. That approach requires more time than a high-volume practice can provide, but it often leads to stronger outcomes.
Mr. Grist also has a long history of helping individuals with Social Security Disability and SSI claims. Although that work is now a smaller part of his practice, it remains meaningful to him, including through service connected to Loaves and Fishes Ministry.
Mr. Grist graduated from Emory College in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Political Science. He earned his Juris Doctor from Mercer University School of Law in 1995 and was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia that same year. He opened Grist Law Firm in 2005. He is active in the Middle Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives, and he has earned a “Superb” rating from Avvo.
