- I argued before the Georgia Supreme Court. I represented a father who had been granted primary physical custody. At trial, I argued, among other things, that the father show a better appreciation of the need to provide the child with a healthy diet. The opposing attorney appealed the decision, claiming that the trial court had considered irrelevant factors in making its custody decision. The Georgia Supreme Court ruled that a child's nutrition can be used as a factor in custody determination. The name of the case is Rose v. Rose, S14F0181., 2014
- I filed an appeal stemming from a Modification of Custody case where a 15 year old child signed an election to live with his father. The court rejected the child's elections, ruling that it would disrupt the consistency of the child's life. I thought the ruling defied logic as it took away a child's statutory right to choose his primary custodial parent at at certain age. Ultimately, the lower's court's decision was upheld. The Court of Appeals reasoned that the trial courts have broad discretion in making custody awards. The name of the case was Belknap v. Belknap, A19A0808., 1999
