Other Outstanding Achievements

  • In Spring 2013, I designed an annual statewide leadership education curriculum and proposed an annual “LEAD” Program ("Leadership Education and Advanced Direction") for the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. The GTLA Executive Committee unanimously accepted my proposed LEAD Program and immediately appointed me to the Exec Committee as LEAD Committee Co-Chair. Four months later, we received approximately sixty LEAD applications from qualified candidates statewide. In August 2013, we selected 16 of the most qualified applicants to join the inaugural GTLA LEAD class. Today, the GTLA LEAD Program currently boasts 80 LEAD alumni, representing 20 different cities statewide from Albany to Atlanta, Columbus to Cedartown, Savannah to Summerville, Valdosta to Vidalia. The 4th annual GTLA LEAD class graduated in May 2017, and the 5th LEAD class was selected in September 2017. I served as the LEAD Committee Chair for its first two years, and I have proudly served on the LEAD Selection Committee every year since the program was established. At least one LEAD alumni has chaired or co-chaired the LEAD Committee every year since (including the current LEAD Chair, 2017 Leadership Georgia participant M.J. Blakely – LEAD Class of 2014). Two LEAD alumni currently serve in the Georgia General Assembly, including State Senator Blake Tillery (R-Vidalia; LGA Class of 2014). Most importantly, however, LEAD alumni have thoroughly permeated the entire organization; Today, nearly 30% current GTLA Executive Committee members are LEAD alumni, 2013
