Matthew G. Midgett

Attorney Matthew (Matt) G. Midgett has specialized in family law since 2010,  Matt is an attorney at Stearns Montgomery & Proctor and helps clients address Family Law legal issues. In his legal practice, Matt is committed to assisting clients through various family law matters, such as divorce, child custody, child support, legitimation, and parental rights. Given his background, he remains deeply passionate about serving service members and navigating the distinct aspects of military life and divorce. Matt obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration majoring in Finance, and subsequently served as a financial intelligence officer. He then chose to attend law school to dedicate his career to family law.

Although Matt initially operated a solo law firm, he chose to align with Stearns to elevate his client care. Joining the firm provided access to a full support team, enabling him to devote greater focus to his clients' legal matters rather than managing business administration.

Matt lives in Savannah with his wife, Julie, and their two spoiled rescue pets: Leon, an orange tabby, and Murray, a black lab mix. Off the clock, both Matt and Julie are avid sports enthusiasts with a strong passion for rugby; Julie leads the Savannah Shamrocks Rugby Club as president, and Matt serves as head coach for the men’s team.

When they aren't busy with rugby, Matt and Julie enjoy playing pickleball, supporting UGA football, and vacationing in the Caribbean two to three times a year. Matt humorously credits his wife with converting him into an avid cruiser.
