Melanie D. Fenwick Thompson

Melanie Thompson is a senior partner and the owner of the law firm Fenwick Thompson & Associates, LLC, located in Snellville, Georgia. She concentrates her practice on family law but also takes on personal injury and entertainment law matters. She takes on a range of issues, including highly contested custody, divorce, child support, modifications, and juvenile defense, and protects parents’ and legal guardians’ rights. 

Ms. Thompson serves as a member of the State Bar of Georgia’s Entertainment and Family Law sections. She is a trained guardian ad litem and has honed her skills in child advocacy from the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. She is an empathetic attorney who pursues her clients’ best interests and protects their rights and freedoms. Serving as a zealous advocate, she provides personalized counsel and strategies for each unique case. 

With a bachelor’s degree in international relations and a minor in dance, Ms. Thompson graduated from Bucknell University. She went on to study law at the University of Baltimore School of Law and obtained her Juris Doctor in 1999. After law school, she served as an associate lawyer at an entertainment law firm, where she gained invaluable experience with matters involving copyright, trademark, producer agreements, drafting recording agreements and more, which she uses for the benefit of her clients even today. 

Ms. Thompson is admitted to practice in Georgia and before the Supreme Court of Georgia, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit. In honor of her notable legal work, she was listed as a Pro Bono Star by Legal Aid and has received a “Very Good” rating on Avvo. Her law firm was listed on the Best of Gwinnett - Family Law Firms by Gwinnett Magazine.
