Mary Donne Peters, a dynamic legal mind and the driving force behind Gorby Peters & Associates in Tucker, Georgia, navigates the intricate waters of business litigation in Atlanta and beyond. Ms. Peters’ academic journey began at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she pursued dual degrees in English and journalism. Graduating cum laude with a law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1985, she honed her skills clerking for a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit. Her exceptional talent was recognized when she was chosen for the Honors Program at the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., where she delved into a major price-fixing trial and assessed potential billion-dollar mergers for the Antitrust Division.

A consummate professional, Ms. Peters plays a pivotal role as outside general counsel for high-growth, closely held businesses, guiding them through the hurdles of rapid expansion and market shifts with a strategic and integrated approach. Her legal journey includes serving as an assistant U.S. Attorney for South Carolina and an Honors Attorney for the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice before transitioning to private practice. Her stint at a prestigious Atlanta firm saw her focus on civil litigation, particularly in insurance coverage for significant environmental claims, before she set out to establish her own successful practice.

A revered figure in the legal community, Ms. Peters is affiliated with numerous legal bodies, including the Alabama State Bar, the State Bar of Georgia and the South Carolina Bar.
