    • THE COPELAND AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM Established in 2019 at Valdosta State University and open to members of the general public, the museum features artifacts dating from the enslavement of Africans through the inauguration of Barack Obama. The artifacts housed in the museum are varied. The museum contains documents related to enslavement, letters from the likes of MLK Jr., Frederick Douglass, Muhammad Ali and many other notable African Americans. The artifacts in the museum were gifted by Roy W. Copeland and his wife, Dr. Cheryl L. Copeland., 2019
