Healan III is dedicated to representing people in the Athens Metro area and Winder, Georgia, as well as Barrow, Jackson, Gwinnett, Banks, Walton, Clarke, Oconee, Madison, Franklin, Oglethorpe, Hall and all other North Georgia counties. After graduating cum laude from The University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Mr. Healan went on to earn a Juris Doctor in 1996 from the University of Georgia School of Law.
With nearly two decades of experience, Mr. Healan understands how important it is to provide the best possible legal representation for clients facing criminal charges. He has handled hundreds of cases ranging from traffic violations to homicide. Mr. Healan uses innovative strategies in every case, calling expert witnesses and providing evidence in order to obtain a favorable outcome for clients.
In a 2003 trial, Mr. Healan secured a landmark ruling from the Supreme Court of Georgia, stating that part of the state’s laws regarding drunk driving were unconstitutional. In a 1997 case, he argued that people should not face drug possession charges when blood or urine tests come back positive for an illegal substance, and the Court of Appeals of Georgia agreed. For his successes, Mr. Healan holds an Avvo “Superb” rating.
A member of the State Bar of Georgia, Mr. Healan is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.
