Attorney Daniel M. Chen is a partner and a civil litigator at the law firm of Goodsill in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department and serves clients on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Hawaii Island.
Mr. Chen has been licensed to practice in Hawaii since 2001 and has more than 20 years of experience in all types of lawsuits involving trust and estate disputes, insurance litigation partition sales, business disagreements, real estate disputes, construction litigation, and serious personal cases pertaining to premises liability, defective products and more.
An experienced litigator, Mr. Chen has appeared in both state and federal courts. In addition, he is a skilled negotiator and serves as an arbitrator for the Hawaii Court Annexed Arbitration Program. He has participated in numerous administrative hearings, arbitrations and mediations.
In addition to running his practice, Mr. Chen has held seminars on insurance and various litigation topics. He has also served as a presenter for the National Business Institute and has published a Q&A Guide to commencing a lawsuit in Hawaii entitled, "Commencing an Action: Hawaii" with Practical Law Litigation.
Mr. Chen is active in the Hawaii State Bar Association and belongs to the Litigation, Probate and Federal Bar Association Sections. He is also a member of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and previously served as the Hawaii Membership Chair for the Defense Research Institute.
As a diploma graduate of Punahou School, Mr. Chen went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1998. He then received his law degree with honors from the University of Hawaii at Manoa William S. Richardson School of Law in 2001. While attending law school, he was a member of the Law Review and the Sports Law Moot Court Team.
