Geoffrey Hamilton

Currently serving as of counsel at Mitsuyama & Rebman LLLC in Honolulu, Hawaii, Geoffrey Hamilton is an established attorney counseling clients in matters of family law and civil litigation. Handling matters in the vein of divorce, child custody, maintenance, adoption and property disputes, he boasts an experience of over 50 years in litigation. In civil litigation, he approaches each case with passion, resolving issues through negotiation, mediation or court trials.

Graduating with his bachelor’s degree in history from The College of Wooster, Mr. Hamilton pursued his interest in law, enrolling at Duke University School of Law. He obtained his Juris Doctor in 1968 and, in 1970, earned his license to practice in Hawaii. Beginning his career as an associate attorney, he handled cases in all fields of law, including securities, real estate/condominium development, limited partnership, corporations, partnerships, construction litigation and insurance defense.

Before joining his current firm, Mr. Hamilton had served as a partner and founded his own firm. In his current position, he practices family law with an emphasis on divorce and child custody. His approach to mediation and arbitration in cases is backed by his vast experience as a certified arbitrator with the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He has a deep understanding of family law and has been featured in numerous American Bar Association Annual Meetings as a speaker. He has also written numerous articles on the psychodynamics of divorce.

Mr. Hamilton has previously served as the chair of the Family Law Section of the Hawaii State Bar Association, where he is currently a member of the Board of Directors. Additionally, he is a member of the Honolulu Chapter of the American Cancer Society. His professionalism and commitment to high ethical standards have gained him several recognitions, including a listing by Honolulu Magazine as one of Hawaii's Best Lawyers.
