Jennifer L.C. Chan

As a partner at Hamilton and Chan LLC, Jennifer L.C. Chan represents the people of Hawaii in cases related to divorce, paternity, adoption and guardianship. Since 2007, she has focused her legal practice exclusively on issues such as retirement, alimony, property division, child support, child custody, relocation, and marital and premarital agreements.

Ms. Chan graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2003, then attended the William S. Richardson School of Law and obtained a Juris Doctor in 2007. During law school, she worked as a teaching assistant for appellate advocacy and was given the prestigious Cades Schutte Fleming & Wright Scholarship three years in a row.

As a compassionate, efficient and knowledgeable attorney, Ms. Chan is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii and the state of Hawaii. With over a decade of experience, she has gained a reputation as an active member of the legal community and protector of the best interests and rights of her clients as they navigate difficult, confusing times.

From 2010 to 2014, Ms. Chan contributed to the Child Custody Section of the Hawaii Divorce Manual and was the secretary of the Family Law Section of Hawaii State Bar Association in 2014. She has represented many different clients in unique situations from different backgrounds and is dedicated to managing their legal affairs as they work through the emotional and mental changes involved in a divorce.
