Joe Adams is a Partner in the Environmental Department of Bassi Edlin Huie & Blum’s San Francisco and Los Angeles offices. Joe has studied environmental law for more than 25 years. His practice concentrates on multiple-party litigation with an emphasis on toxic torts, pollution, and product liability. Joe is involved in the representation of premises owners, subcontractors, manufacturers, and distributors of a wide range of products, from Fortune 500 companies to small businesses. He has 15 years of experience trying cases to verdict and resolving cases with dispositive motions and mediation. Joe has the technical background to handle large pollution cases from start to finish, including managing experts in the complex scientific and medical issues related to such cases.
Joe has also developed substantial expertise in the management of mass torts. He has represented a wide variety of companies in asbestos personal injury and property damage cases in California, ranging from manufacturers and distributors of products to premises owners and contractors. He has extensive experience with these cases in all major State and Federal jurisdictions in California, as well as asbestos multi-district litigation in Philadelphia. Through innovative litigation strategies, Joe has been instrumental in significantly reducing his clients' asbestos dockets. He serves as California Litigation Counsel, defending several Fortune 500 companies in asbestos litigation throughout the state. He coordinates the defense of dozens of clients and has recently tried and supervised trials in San Francisco, Alameda, and Los Angeles counties.
Joe earned his B.A. in American studies from the University of California Santa Cruz and his Juris Doctorate from the University of San Francisco School of Law. His law school achievements include: the American Jurisprudence Award (Highest Honors), Legal Research & Writing; he was accepted as one of five students into Criminal Trial Clinic; and he was recognized as a Public Interest Law Scholar.
