Wayne K. Kekina

A member of Cronin, Fried, Sekiya, Kekina & Fairbanks, Wayne K. Kekina devotes the entirety of his practice to complex personal injury and wrongful death cases. The firm is located in Honolulu, and he represents clients throughout the region. Prior to joining the firm in 1975, Mr. Kekina was an insurance defense attorney, and he has used that experience to anticipate the types of tactics he often faces while advocating on behalf of plaintiffs in these types of cases.

Mr. Kekina’s client base is comprised of people who have been significantly harmed as the result of negligent acts or omissions of other parties. Many of his cases have stemmed from industrial accidents, such as the Chevron refinery and tank farm fire that occurred on the island of Oahu in 1980 and a 1996 fire at the Subaru Telescope Project on the Big Island that killed three construction workers and injured nearly two dozen others.

Other matters that Mr. Kekina has handled have arisen out of incidents involving medical malpractice, defective products, motor vehicle crashes, and aviation accidents involving helicopters and other types of aircraft. He has been able to obtain millions of dollars in compensation for his clients through both jury awards and settlements that he has negotiated out of court, and his successful track record along with his high degree of ethics have not gone unnoticed by his colleagues. Mr. Kekina is a graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and he is admitted to practice in Hawaii and before several federal courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States.
