Brent T. Robinson
Attorney Profile
Top Rated Bankruptcy Attorney in Rupert, ID
Brent T. Robinson is the founder of Robinson & Associates. Located in Rupert, Idaho, he provides representation to business and individual clients throughout the state in a variety of matters. Admitted to practice before all Idaho state courts, Mr. Robinson is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.
A significant portion of Mr. Robinson's practice consists of the representation of businesses that are overwhelmed by their financial obligations, and in this regard, he helps them prepare and file petitions with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. The two primary options that are available for companies are Chapter 7 and Chapter 11, and they are quite different in their ramifications. Under Chapter 7, the trustee liquidates the assets of the business and uses the proceeds to pay the company's creditors. Unlike a Chapter 7 personal bankruptcy, there are no state or federal asset exemptions, so the entire business is sold off.
Chapter 11 is often referred to as a reorganization, and it is designed for companies that have a projected long-term revenue stream that is higher than the liquidation value of its assets. It requires a payment plan that must be submitted to the court and approved by the company's creditors, and during the term of the plan that Mr. Robinson helps his clients prepare, the company will need the approval of the court for transactions outside of the normal scope of its business.
In addition to his bankruptcy practice, Mr. Robinson handles general commercial litigation, and his background encompasses estate planning as well. Highly regarded by his colleagues for the high quality of his work, he has received an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell. He obtained his legal education at the University of Idaho College of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1976.
