Mr. Badgley began his legal career in 1978 after receiving his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago and his license to practice from the Illinois State Bar Association. In 1996, The Missouri Bar also admitted him to practice, and Mr. Badgley practices before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Badgley has gained a reputation for his aggressive litigation tactics and effective negotiation skills, resulting in substantial settlements and awards on behalf of his clients. Through his efforts, he has obtained some of the largest verdicts ever awarded in Illinois, including a $110 million verdict for the victims of a grain elevator explosion, and a $19.6 million settlement for two railroad salvage workers who were seriously burned in a derailment explosion.

Dedicated to his practice, Mr. Badgley remains active in many professional legal organizations, including serving on the board of Managers for the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association Mo-Ill Chapter President of the American Board of Trial Advocates,Workers Compensation,Bench and Bar, Senior Section Counsel for the Illinois State Bar Association, among several others. He has also served as counsel to a number of organized labor associations, including the Southwestern Illinois Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO.
