Samantha S. Unsell

Samantha S. Unsell grew up in Madison County, Illinois, the daughter of two practicing attorneys, and developed an early appreciation for the law. At Keefe, Keefe & Unsell, P.C., she became a partner in 2015, a role in which she continues to pursue justice for injured plaintiffs. Basing her practice in Belleville, Illinois, her casework encompasses a broad range of personal injury matters, including medical malpractice, wrongful death, motor vehicle and trucking collisions, railroad crossing incidents and premises liability claims.

Earning a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy cum laude from Saint Louis University in 2005, Ms. Unsell completed her Juris Doctor at Saint Louis University School of Law in 2008. While in law school, she served as a law clerk at the firm where she was mentored in the practical art of case preparation and trial advocacy. After passing the Illinois State Bar Association, she joined the firm as an associate in 2009 and built a reputation for thorough preparation and client-centered representation.

Devoting her practice entirely to litigation on behalf of individuals, Ms. Unsell frequently handles complex medical negligence matters that require meticulous investigation, strategic research and aggressive courtroom advocacy. Her approach emphasizes clear communication with clients, careful development of factual and expert records, and persistence in securing favorable settlements and verdicts.

Admitted to the bars of Illinois and Missouri (both 2009), Ms. Unsell is also licensed to appear before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, enabling her to litigate across jurisdictions when clients’ needs demand it. Her litigation practice is driven by a commitment to holding negligent parties accountable and restoring stability for families harmed by preventable mistakes.

Ms. Unsell’s legal accomplishments have been acknowledged by peers and professional organizations. She remains actively involved in the bar community, serving on the East St. Louis Bar Association board since 2013, previously on the St. Clair County Bar Association board and on the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association board of managers since 2014, with membership in the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois and the American Association for Justice. She is committed to zealous representation and to advancing the interests of injured clients.
