    Attorney Profile

Alan J. Toback, a founding partner of Lake Toback DiDomenico, has more than 30 years of experience in zealously advocating for his clients in Chicago, Illinois, and throughout the surrounding counties. He focuses his practice exclusively on family law matters, with a special emphasis on high net worth divorces involving complex property division and related issues for celebrities, sports figures, business owners and other high-profile clients.

Mr. Toback pursued his undergraduate studies at what is now known as the University at Albany, State University of New York, and received a Bachelor of Arts in 1979. He then went on to attend The John Marshall Law School in Chicago and was awarded his Juris Doctor with distinction in 1982.

Admitted to practice before all of the state courts of Illinois, Mr. Toback is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Among the many high-profile cases he has handled is the successful defense of a prominent family member of the owners of a drug store chain against her in-laws' attempt to adopt her children. Mr. Toback also played a pivotal role in his representation of a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives by winning the return of his children to Illinois after an alleged wrongful removal of them to another state.

Named by the Chicago Sun-Times as being one of the top 10 divorce lawyers in Chicago, Mr. Toback has received a "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo as well as an AV* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell, each the highest that an attorney can receive through those organizations. He is an active participant in several professional groups, including the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and The Chicago Bar Association.

*AV®, BV®, AV Preeminent® and BV Distinguished® are registered certification marks of Reed Elsevier Properties Inc., used in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies. Ratings reflect the anonymous opinions of members of the bar and the judiciary. Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings fall into two categories – legal ability and general practice standards.
