Alana M. De Leon is a fiercely dedicated criminal defense attorney. Alana attended DePaul University College of Law - focusing her academic career on preparing to practice criminal law and procedure. During law school, she was accepted into the Death Penalty Defense Clinic and worked under renowned death penalty defense attorney, Andrea Lyon. As part of her clinic work, Alana assisted in investigating and reviewing death penalty cases around the country.
As a law student, Alana was a member of the Latino Law Student Association at DePaul, following in the footsteps of her distinguished father – veteran Criminal Defense attorney, John R. De Leon. Alana completed an externship with the Honorable Justice Rodolfo "Rudy" Garcia of the First District Appellate Court of Illinois. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa and studied Spanish at the Universitat d'Alicant in Alicante, Spain.
As an attorney, Alana has zealously represented clients on major drug cases, homicide cases, and other serious felonies and misdemeanors. She works with Attorney John R. De Leon and is determined to continue upholding the established, formidable reputation of the De Leon name in the criminal defense community. Alana serves as a board director for the HLAI - Serving the Hispanic Lawyers of Illinois, is President of the Women's Criminal Defense Bar Association (WCDBA), and the President Elect of the Illinois Association for Criminal Defense Lawyers (IACDL). She volunteers her time to these various bar associations and numerous other community groups in and around Chicago.
