Ms. McCarty is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Multidisciplinary Team for the Illinois Department of Aging Elder Abuse and Neglect Program and the PLOWS Council On Aging and the mental health and disability law committee for the Chicago Bar Association, where she was the chair from 2012-2013.

As an active member of the community, she volunteers with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services as a Pro Bono Guardian Ad Litem in guardianship cases, as a board member and celebrity chef committee member for Meals on Wheels in Chicago and with the Misericordia Human Rights Commission. Ms. McCarty is also a reputable presenter and teaches multiple seminars and classes on topics such as mental illness, juvenile law and elder law.
