    Attorney Profile

Benjamin M. Whipple is an attorney and lobbyist at the Law Offices of Paul L. Williams & Associates.  He focuses his practice primarily on legislative and governmental affairs.  Working out of the firm’s offices in Chicago, Illinois and in Springfield, Illinois when the General Assembly is in session, he provides representation to clients that are leaders in a range of industries.

Mr. Whipple has over 15 years of experience practicing law, more than a decade of which are devoted to governmental affairs.  He has worked at law firms, for the government, and in-house as a multi-state corporate governmental affairs professional.  He has ample experience influencing legislation, working with government officials, corporate team members, employees of competing businesses, and other outside counsel.

Mr. Whipple pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he majored in philosophy and received a Bachelor of Arts in 2001.  He then attended law school at University of Notre Dame.  While there, he served on the school’s Moot Court Board and briefed and argued a case before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.  After graduating from law school cum laude in 2004, he began his career practicing law at a large law firm in Chicago, followed by a two-year clerkship for the then-Chief United States District Court Judge for the Southern District of Alabama.  His clerkship ended in 2009, after which he began lobbying.

Ben is serving a four-year term on the Board of Trustees of the National Association of State Lobbyists (“NASL”).  NASL is an invitation-only network of top governmental affairs professionals, with a single member in every state.  NASL membership is offered to lobbyists based on their experience and proven success.  We promote integrity, ethics, and strategic judgment in our profession.
