Bonita B. Hwang Cho

Owner and partner of the Law Offices of Cheng, Cho, & Yee, PC, Bonita B. Hwang Cho handles cases of immigration law in Chicago, Illinois. This includes business immigration, removal defense, family immigration, asylum, citizenship and federal court litigation. Passionate about nationality and immigration law, she is proud to be part of a minority and female-owned firm.

Ms. Cho attended the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. At Chicago-Kent College of Law, she obtained her Juris Doctor and now has over two decades of experience representing clients in the area. She is passionate about mentoring younger attorneys and does so through training at the Chinatown Pro Bono Clinic, and participation in the United States Eastern Region Leadership Conference and the Korean Women’s International Network.

The first president of the Korean American Bar Association, she is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Within this organization, Ms. Cho is involved in the EOIR Committee, the Asylum Committee and the Conference Planning Committee. At Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, she participated in a Refugees and Asylum Seminar, and has spoken at seminars and conferences for the American Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Asian American Bar Association of Greater Chicago and the International Association of Korean Lawyers.

An active member of her community, she is the Board of Directors president for Cornerstone Counseling Center of Chicago. During her career, Ms. Cho has also offered pro bono legal services through her work with the Korean American Community Services.
