Brian J. Hurst

Basing his practice in Chicago, Illinois, attorney Brian J. Hurst partners with the law firm of Hurst Robin & Kay LLC. Restricting his practice to just matrimonial and family law, he has had several significant successes in the courtroom. This includes an argument that recognized the accumulated earnings of a closely held nonmarital corporation as marital property and two others that awarded his client sole custody when both the court-appointed expert and the client’s expert recommended the other. 

At Ohio Wesleyan University, Mr. Hurst completed his Bachelor of Philosophy in political science in 1992 and proceeded to secure a master’s degree in social work (1996) with a concentration on children and families at the Loyola University Chicago – Graduate School of Social Work. In 1999, he graduated from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law with a doctorate in jurisprudence. Having worked with other law firms as well, he has extensive experience in matters of complex financial matters, business valuations, asset allocation, spousal and child support, and more. 

Utilizing his experience in the field of mental health, Mr. Hurst is aware of the psychological aspects of matrimonial and family law cases that often take up a lot of mental space and energy. Moreover, he places immense value on communication, understanding the importance of keeping clients informed every step of the way.
