Details
Christopher T. Griffith is a founding partner of the law firm Green, Griffith & Associates LLP. He leverages over 35 years of experience in handling all types of intellectual property (IP) matters, with specific expertise in litigation. As a member of the Northern District of Illinois Trial Bar, he serves as local and co-counsel in patent cases.
Mr. Griffith spent his career supporting clients in the medical, chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnological fields. This has helped him obtain a holistic understanding of the business objectives of his clients, which has aided him in providing them with strategic counsel and practical strategies.
His extensive knowledge in the field of IP law has enabled him to extend his services to the preparation and prosecution of US and foreign patent applications, trademarks, copyrights, the development and management of portfolios, providing opinions (e.g., freedom-to-operate), and guidance on the legal aspects of product development and protection. He also advises corporations and investors in the areas of risk assessment and other valuation topics.
Mr. Griffith has particular experience handling issues concerning the Food and Drug Administration, such as the Orange Book and the Hatch-Waxman Act, along with others under the Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act. In addition to his court room experience, he is also experienced in arbitration and mediation, and attends to inter partes reviews and post-grant proceedings under the American Invents Act.
Mr. Griffith received a masters degree in biotechnology enterprise and entrepreneurship from The Johns Hopkins University, and holds a bachelors degree in chemical engineering. He graduated with his J.D. from the University of Houston, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Houston Journal of International Law.
Mr. Griffith is admitted in Illinois, Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (Member, Trial Bar), and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (Reg. No. 33,392).
As an adjunct professor, Mr. Griffith designed and taught a course in patent law at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law for over 15 years. In addition, he prioritizes giving back to the community and engages in pro bono services and volunteering programs at the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois’ Pro Bono Program.
