David J. Rashid

David J. Rashid joined Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C. as a Partner in 2023. He concentrates his legal practice on cases concerning catastrophic personal injury, medical negligence, and wrongful death, with particular experience handling cases involving misdiagnosis, surgical errors, birth injuries, emergency room errors, and strokes.

Throughout his time with the firm, he has recovered more than $575 million in verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients.

Mr. Rashid’s work requires a deep understanding of complex medical issues, and he brings a meticulous and analytical approach to every case. He works closely with leading medical experts to identify where healthcare providers failed to meet the standard of care and develop a trial strategy to hold negligent providers and hospitals accountable.

Mr. Rashid has achieved significant results in complex medical negligence and catastrophic injury cases. In 2026, Mr. Rashid was part of a trial team that won a $241 million jury verdict on behalf of the family of a Missouri man who died while transporting dry ice as part of his job as a courier. The verdict includes $49.5 million in compensatory and $191.5 million in punitive damages against the company. In his first trial with Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, Mr. Rashid won a $32.7 million jury verdict for a man who suffered a life-altering foot amputation due to a delayed diagnosis of a blood clot. The verdict is the highest Illinois verdict reported to the Illinois Jury Verdict Reporter for the loss of one leg or foot. He also secured a $28 million medical malpractice settlement. A native of Peoria, Illinois, Mr. Rashid has obtained successful results for clients throughout the state. He holds multiple records for medical malpractice verdicts in Cook County, as well as records for medical malpractice settlements in Cook, Richland, and Crawford Counties.

Behind every verdict and settlement, Mr. Rashid understands that he is fighting for a person or family facing a life-altering event. He takes the time to understand the circumstances surrounding each case and works closely with his clients to ensure they understand their legal options and feel supported throughout the process. Before joining Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, Mr. Rashid practiced at another prominent Chicago personal injury firm, where he secured more than $130 million in verdicts and settlements for his deserving clients. He began his legal career in 2010, completing a judicial clerkship with the Office of the Chief Prosecutor for the U.S. Office of Military Commissions.

Mr. Rashid is an active member of the legal community, holding memberships in the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Chicago Bar Association. He has authored several articles published in the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association’s Trial Journal and Trial—the official magazine of the American Association for Justice.

Passionate about sharing his experience and educating the next generation of lawyers, Mr. Rashid has been an invited lecturer on medical malpractice and trial advocacy at the University of Notre Dame Law School and the United Institute for Continuing Legal Education. In 2023, he presented Medical Grand Rounds to the Departments of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. He has also appeared on numerous legal podcasts, including “The Results Podcast,” a case series by Trial Lawyers University, and the firm's own podcast, “Beating Goliath.”

In his free time, Mr. Rashid enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children. He is also an avid reader and sports fan.
