James D. Montgomery, Jr.

James D. Montgomery Jr. is an attorney and the founder of Montgomery Law Firm LLC, in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Montgomery handles a variety of cases in Chicago and throughout Cook County in the areas of civil rights, medical malpractice, police misconduct, personal injury and more.

After graduating from Stanford University, Mr. Montgomery earned his law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law. He is admitted to practice in the state of Illinois and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern District of Illinois, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.

Following law school, Mr. Montgomery worked in a variety of roles within the legal profession before deciding to open his own firm. He previously served as senior and managing counsel of the McDonald’s Corporation’s legal department and later worked as an attorney of James D. Montgomery & Associates. He opened Montgomery Law Firm LLC in 2015.

A highly recognized trial lawyer, Mr. Montgomery has obtained million and multimillion-dollar verdicts and settlements for his clients throughout his years in practice in both the personal injury and wrongful death areas. One of his cases resulted in his inclusion in the National Law Journal’s “Plaintiff’s Hot List."

Mr. Montgomery has been involved in other notable cases which have resulted in substantial verdicts, including one involving a police shooting as well as a bar fight at a well-known Chicago nightclub. He also obtained a substantial settlement in a case against the Archdiocese of Chicago.
