John R. Berg

As a partner at Berg & Berg Attorneys at Law, John R. Berg serves clients in the Chicago metropolitan and Cook County areas in cases of workers’ compensation, criminal defense matters such as DUI, and personal injury, including motor vehicle accidents, traumatic brain injuries and plane crashes. Mr. Berg has an extensive list of successful arbitrations, bench trials and over 100 jury trials throughout his career.

Mr. Berg attended Northwestern University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors, then went on to attend the University of California Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, earning his Juris Doctor. Early in his career, he worked as an assistant state’s attorney, preparing and assisting in a long list of state and federal trials. By the end of his tenure with the state, he was a member of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Special Prosecutions Unit and never lost a felony trial he was assigned.

With his previous focus on violent and complex financial crimes, Mr. Berg brings experience from both sides of a case to benefit his clients. He handles cases in anything from auto theft to murder with a strong work ethic and superior skill in the courtroom. For many clients, he has been able to achieve six- and seven-figure judgments, and he regularly deals with cases of catastrophic death or injury.

Integrity, loyalty and excellence are the focuses of Mr. Berg’s practice. When he is not educating other attorneys, or presenting on issues of practice and procedure in Illinois, Mr. Berg enjoys fishing at the Florida Keys or on Lake Michigan.
