John S. Monical

As the managing partner of Lawrence Kamin, LLC, in Chicago, Illinois, John S. Monical aids his clients with legal matters pertaining to business and commercial litigation, including:

As an attorney with nearly 30 years of experience, Mr. Monical isn’t fazed by the unpredictability of his profession. He enjoys a good challenge and works hard to seek out solutions that bring favorable results for his clients. Having been raised in a household with many siblings, he is a tenacious fighter in the courtroom, and calm and collected during tense negotiations and settlements. 

Mr. Monical has handled many multimillion-dollar cases, ranging from numerous national broker-dealer and product liability cases to real estate trials. Mr. Monical graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1991 from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, majoring in computer science. He later received his Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the Northern Illinois University (NIU) College of Law. 

Licensed to practice in Indiana, Wisconsin and Illinois, Mr. Monical is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Additionally, he is permitted to argue before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.

Keeping busy in his legal community, Mr. Monical holds memberships in the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Indiana State Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. He was the chair and vice chair for the Chicago Bar Association’s Securities Law Committee and the Defense Research Institute’s Litigation Group. Moreover, he is a member of the Financial Planning Association of Illinois, the National Society of Compliance Professionals and the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.
