    Attorney Profile

Kevin approaches the practice of law with realistic and practical solutions that incorporate advanced technology and new approaches to age-old problems. While his focus begins with proactive measures to avoid litigation, Kevin unabashedly prepares his clients for battle when necessary. Kevin is well-versed in all aspects of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and numerous other federal, state, and local discrimination laws.

Clients seek Kevin’s counsel when they are facing accessibility issues, either at brick-and-mortar locations or virtually, through their online presences. Kevin has a physical disability himself, so he is fully aware of the spectrum of considerations that arise under the ADA. And as a member of Seyfarth Shaw's nationally recognized specialty Disability Access and Defense Team, Kevin assists his clients through issues related to architectual barriers, website accessibility, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines compliance, effective communication, service animals, and other public accomodations matters arising under Title II and III of the ADA, and state disability access laws. But above all, clients seek out Kevin when they are looking for practical solutions to complicated issues. Clients find his straightforward, risk-reducing approach reassuring as they navigate unchartered and ever-changing territories.

As a proactive, forward-thinking, and innovative attorney, Kevin often uses technology to enhance the service he provides to his clients. For instance, he developed an automated counseling tool for one of the world's largest staffing agencies. The tool allows its many users to submit queries, which, when responded to, create critical data points that can be used to identify areas of the law for additional employee training, policy revisions, and other day-to-day company action items. Since creating the tool, Kevin's ideas on the automation of counseling services have been adopted by several long-term Seyfarth clients.

Kevin has spoken extensively on various aspects of disability, disability education, diversity, empowerment, and the importance of workplaces that value employees of all backgrounds. He is the proud co-chair of Seyfarth's All Abilities Affinity Group, spearheading the implementation of inclusive and rewarding work environments that value all. Kevin is regularly quoted by news cources such as Forbes, Corporate Counsel, Newsy, Law Practice Today, and LXBN, and his work has appeared in publications such as the Society for Human Resource Management and the Illinois Alliance of Administrators of Special Education.
