Matt Patterson

As a partner at Beam Legal Team LLC, Matt Patterson's proficiency lies in championing clients in matters related to birth injuries, brain injuries, cesarean sections (C-sections), cerebral palsy, Erb's palsy, fetal stroke, forceps injuries, head cooling, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), induction/Pitocin, mental retardation, vacuum extraction, obstetrical and neonatal hospital, and physician and nursing negligence cases. His legal acumen continues to benefit clientele beyond Chicago, extending nationwide.

Recognized for his formidable advocacy skills in the courtroom, Mr. Patterson has successfully obtained numerous verdicts for injured children and their families. His dedication ensures that these families receive the necessary resources for the lifetime care of their child while also holding caregivers accountable for any negligent treatment during the birth process. In a recent event dating back to April 2023, he obtained a record-breaking $19 million settlement in Cook County, Illinois, for wrongful death. This was on behalf of the relatives of a child who tragically lost his life at just 10 months old because of brain damage he sustained during birth.

In 2019, Mr. Patterson and his co-counsel at Beam Legal Team LLC garnered recognition on TopVerdict.com, a platform that releases rankings for the top 10 verdicts delivered in each state. Their accomplishment was securing the third-highest verdict in Illinois that year, amounting to a significant $23,594,000.00.

After completing his undergraduate studies in political science and government at the University of Dayton in 2010, Mr. Patterson attended the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law and earned his Juris Doctor magna cum laude in 2014. He was also part of The John Marshall Law Review and was honored on the dean's list each semester, in addition to receiving eight CALI Awards for achieving the highest grade in his class.

Mr. Patterson holds licenses to practice law in Illinois (2014), the Northern District of Illinois, Minnesota and Michigan. Furthermore, he maintains membership in several organizations, including the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice and the Birth Trauma Litigation Group.
